MS Access
Microsoft Access is a "desktop" or "flat file" database but can be shared by several users on a network, with MS Windows client computers. While not as robust or scalable, or shareable as something like MS SQL Server, MySQL or an Oracle database, Access may do great for a small location-based database project. Access can also be useful for prototyping a database application project, which can later be adapted to a more robust application/database environment.
